AGTC Genomics has been awarded accreditation by the College of American Pathologists (CAP) Accreditation Committee following the successful completion of a recent on-site inspection. Recognized globally for its rigorous and robust standards, CAP accreditation elevates laboratory quality, mitigates risk, and supports improved patient outcomes.

The accreditation recognizes AGTC Genomics’ commitment to excellence in molecular diagnostics, clinical genomics, and precision medicine testing. AGTC Genomics now joins more than 8,000 laboratories worldwide that meet the CAP’s exacting standards.

The laboratory’s director, Prof. Dr. Chee-Onn Leong, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of AGTC Genomics, was advised of this global recognition and congratulated for the quality and reliability of the laboratory services being provided.

“This CAP accreditation is a strong affirmation of our laboratory’s quality systems, technical competence, and commitment to delivering clinically reliable genomic results,” said Prof. Dr. Chee-Onn Leong. “It reflects the dedication of our scientific and operational teams to uphold the highest international standards in genomic testing.”

The CAP Council on Accreditation also recognized AGTC Genomics for meeting these high standards.

“The CAP congratulates AGTC Genomics on its recent CAP Accreditation,” said Earle S. Collum, MD, FCAP, Chair of the CAP Council on Accreditation. “AGTC Genomics demonstrates leadership, innovation, and a strong commitment to standards of excellence while providing high-quality laboratory services that ultimately benefit both patients and physicians.”

Upon learning of the accreditation, Prof. Dr. Leong added:

“As precision medicine becomes increasingly central to modern healthcare, CAP accreditation reinforces our responsibility to ensure accuracy, consistency, and clinical confidence in every test we deliver, both in Malaysia and across the region.”

During the CAP accreditation process—designed to ensure the highest standard of care for all laboratory patients—inspectors conducted a comprehensive evaluation of AGTC Genomics’ records, quality control procedures, staff qualifications, equipment, facilities, safety programs, and overall laboratory management. These assessments verify that laboratory practices reflect the most current evidence-based standards in laboratory medicine.

With more than 23,000 laboratory participants globally, the CAP also offers proficiency testing and external quality assessment (PT/EQA) programs, quality improvement tools, and cancer protocols and evidence-based guidelines. Built on a foundation of pathologist expertise, the College of American Pathologists partners with laboratories worldwide to elevate laboratory medicine through best-in-class solutions that support operational excellence, diagnostic confidence, and optimal patient care.
