Advancing MyGenom, Precision Medicine and Translational Research Through MGVI–AGTC Engagement

AGTC Genomics was honoured to welcome the team from the Malaysia Genome and Vaccine Institute, National Institutes of Biotechnology Malaysia (MGVI-NIBM), for a visit and fruitful discussion on potential collaboration in translational genome research.

The visit provided an important platform for both organisations to exchange perspectives on advancing Malaysia’s genomics ecosystem, with particular focus on translating national genome research into real-world clinical, healthcare, and research applications.

During the visit, AGTC Genomics shared its capabilities in advanced genome sequencing, clinical genomics, cancer genomics, rare disease testing, infectious disease genomics, digital health, and precision medicine implementation. The discussion also explored how national initiatives such as MyGenom can be further supported through translational research, technology adoption, clinical validation, and public–private collaboration.

MGVI has played an important role in strengthening Malaysia’s genomics and vaccine research landscape, while MyGenom represents a key national initiative to build a Malaysian genomic reference that reflects the country’s population diversity. By combining MGVI’s national research leadership with AGTC Genomics’ clinical genomics infrastructure and implementation experience, both parties recognised the strong potential to accelerate precision medicine and genomic medicine in Malaysia.

The visit marks an encouraging step towards exploring meaningful collaboration between MGVI and AGTC Genomics in areas such as population genomics, rare disease diagnosis, cancer genomics, infectious disease research, pharmacogenomics, and precision healthcare.

AGTC Genomics looks forward to further engagement with MGVI in supporting Malaysia’s next phase of genomic medicine, translational research, and healthcare innovation.
