AGTC Genomics Represents Malaysia at the 14th China–ASEAN Technology Transfer and Collaborative Innovation Forum in China
Malaysia’s precision diagnostics capabilities showcased on an important government-to-government platform connecting China and ASEAN in technology, healthcare and innovation

NANNING, CHINA, September 2026 — AGTC Genomics was proud to represent Malaysia at the 14th Forum on China–ASEAN Technology Transfer and Collaborative Innovation (FCATTCI), held in Nanning, Guangxi, China on 16 September 2026.
The annual forum, supported through the China–ASEAN Technology Transfer Center (CATTC), is an important regional platform connecting governments, research institutions, universities, technology organisations and industry leaders from China and ASEAN. Established in 2013, the forum has developed into a significant platform for advancing technology transfer, collaborative innovation and cross-border science and technology cooperation between China and ASEAN.
This year’s forum, themed “Shared AI, Shared Success,” focused strongly on the application of artificial intelligence and featured high-level presentations, thematic forums and technology demonstrations. It also showcased new China–ASEAN cooperation mechanisms aimed at strengthening resource sharing, technology development and collaborative innovation.
Malaysia Strengthens Its Presence in China–ASEAN Innovation
Malaysia was represented by a diverse delegation comprising representatives from the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), MRANTI, Universiti Malaya (UM), AGTC Genomics, and other organisations across Malaysia’s research, technology and innovation ecosystem.
The Malaysian delegation formed part of a broader gathering of government representatives, universities, research organisations, technology companies and prominent healthcare and MedTech stakeholders from across Southeast Asia and China.
MOSTI’s participation reflects Malaysia’s continuing commitment to international science, technology and innovation collaboration. During the 2026 forum, Malaysia also contributed perspectives on international cooperation in AI-driven healthcare through MRANTI, while the wider programme highlighted areas including AI, advanced technology, healthcare innovation and cross-border commercialisation.
The significance of the forum extends beyond scientific exchange. Previous editions have been jointly organised at government level by China’s Ministry of Science and Technology and the Guangxi authorities, with active participation by science and technology ministries from ASEAN countries. The platform has supported technology transfer, joint research, talent exchange, innovation networks and industry–academia collaboration across the region.
Sharing Malaysia’s Progress in Precision Medicine
Representing AGTC Genomics, Chief Technology Officer Dr Tan Boon Shing presented on the recent trends and development of precision medicine in Malaysia, sharing how advances in genomics, molecular diagnostics, artificial intelligence and data-driven healthcare are progressively moving precision medicine from research into real-world clinical practice.
Dr Tan highlighted the growing importance of genomic technologies in areas such as precision oncology, early cancer detection, inherited disease assessment, pharmacogenomics and personalised healthcare, as well as the need to build strong regional capabilities in laboratory infrastructure, clinical implementation, bioinformatics and health data.
As Chief Technology Officer of AGTC Genomics, Dr Tan brings experience spanning molecular diagnostics, translational research and the deployment of advanced diagnostic technologies across clinical and industry settings.
For Malaysia, participation in such an international platform is important because the next phase of precision medicine will increasingly depend on cross-border collaboration — from sharing scientific expertise and developing representative genomic datasets to validating new technologies, establishing joint research programmes and accelerating their translation into accessible healthcare solutions.
Taking Malaysian Precision Diagnostics to the Regional Stage
AGTC Genomics’ participation at the forum further reinforces its role as a Malaysian leader in genomics and precision diagnostics, connecting Malaysia’s growing precision medicine capabilities with the wider China–ASEAN innovation ecosystem.
The company continues to contribute to Malaysia’s precision medicine development through clinical genomics, next-generation sequencing, liquid biopsy, comprehensive genomic profiling, hereditary disease testing, early cancer detection and other advanced molecular diagnostic technologies. AGTC has also participated in national discussions and initiatives aimed at advancing precision medicine and digital healthcare in Malaysia.
More importantly, international platforms such as FCATTCI provide Malaysian innovators with opportunities to establish government, academic and industry partnerships, facilitate technology transfer, explore joint R&D and commercialisation, and bring Malaysian-developed capabilities into the rapidly growing ASEAN and Chinese healthcare markets.
From Malaysia to ASEAN and beyond, AGTC Genomics remains committed to advancing precision diagnostics and translating genomic science into meaningful clinical solutions that can improve healthcare outcomes across the region.
Malaysia has the scientific talent, clinical expertise and technological capability to become an important regional hub for precision medicine — and AGTC Genomics is proud to be part of that journey.
