AGTC Genomics recently welcomed a group of students from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) for an educational visit aimed at strengthening industry–academia collaboration in genomics, bioinformatics, and precision medicine. The visit reflects a shared commitment between AGTC Genomics and UPM to enhance teaching and learning (T&L) through real-world exposure while fostering future opportunities for collaborative research.

During the visit, students were introduced to the fundamentals of Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) and the role of bioinformatics in transforming raw sequencing data into meaningful biological and clinical insights. Beyond technical knowledge, the session helped students understand how genomics technologies are applied in real laboratory environments, including quality standards, data interpretation, and the integration of laboratory science with digital analytics.

A key learning outcome of the visit was helping students connect academic concepts with practical applications. By observing how genomics workflows operate in an industry setting, students gained clearer insight into potential career pathways, emerging skill requirements, and the interdisciplinary nature of modern life sciences, where molecular biology, data science, and clinical translation intersect.

The engagement also underscores the importance of collaboration in education and research. AGTC Genomics remains committed to working closely with UPM in supporting experiential learning, student training, and joint research initiatives that advance genomics, bioinformatics, and precision medicine. Such partnerships play a vital role in building national capacity, nurturing talent, and translating academic research into impactful solutions for healthcare and biotechnology.

AGTC Genomics looks forward to strengthening its collaboration with UPM through continued student engagement, research partnerships, and knowledge exchange—supporting the development of a skilled, future-ready genomics workforce in Malaysia.
